Danny Gagnon is the Director and Founder of the Montreal Therapy & Psychological Wellness Centre. He is a fully bilingual licensed psychologist specializing in individual Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and is a member of l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec.
He received his PhD from McGill University and has worked at affiliated hospitals such as the Royal Victoria Hospital, Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital and the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. Danny Gagnon has been the recipient of distinguished academic awards, has published numerous research articles in scientific journals and has lectured at National and International conferences.
With over ten years of experience as a CBT psychologist, he is currently working as a private practitioner and founded the Montreal Therapy & Psychological Wellness Centre to help promote the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a scientifically-validated therapy for anxiety and depression.
Previously, Danny Gagnon worked as a civilian psychologist for The Department of National Defence and his expertise is still retained by this organization. He helps to build psychological resiliency in members of the Canadian Forces who may be deployed overseas in high-stress, high-risk strategic missions and also helps them recover from psychological traumas they may have experienced while serving in war zones abroad.
Danny Gagnon has also worked as a psychologist at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, the only ultra-specialized hospital in southwestern Montreal dedicated to helping those people who need help recovering from their psychological difficulties. At the Douglas Institute, he identified the best-suited services for individuals and was involved in the accreditation of the Douglas Institute with the Canadian Government to ensure that the best care is provided to clients. His expertise was also sought by the judicial system for Provincial Review Boards that decide on the personal liberties of individuals that pose a risk to the public.
Dedicated to helping develop the next generation of psychologists, Danny Gagnon has trained psychology students at the graduate and undergraduate level and has designed programs to train mental health professionals. He has also developed an important relationship with the media and has been interviewed for his expertise by popular Quebec magazines and Radio Canada.
